Courtney Missionary Baptist church





​Prior to building "separate" churches for Methodist (1928) and Baptist (1933) both congregations alternated services at the Belleville School building completed in 1917.  Located SE corner of current county line and Belleville road intersection. The photo capturing Sunday morning church crowd was taken by teacher Mattie Todd who boarded with Jesse & Julie Black.  photo 1917.

Know all men by these present that M.H. Barrett and Nellie J. Barrett, husband and wife parties of the first part, in consideration of $100 in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell and convey unto  H.A. McEntire, H.M. Howard and Tom Carnahan, Trustees of Courtney Grove Missionary Baptist Church the following described real property and premises, situated in Love County, State of Oklahoma, to-wit: One acre of land described as follows:   Beginning at the Southeast corner of the Southeast Quarter of Section 19, Township 7 South, Range 3 West, running North 84 yards, thence West 50 yards, thence South 84 yards, thence East 50 yards along Section line to the place of beginning. Signed 28 November 1933.
